Patrón Añejo Tequila

Patrón Añejo spends 12–15 months in oak, developing cooked-agave, dried-fruit and toffee notes. Pour a little into a small glass and let it open before adding ice, or use it for an oak-accented twist on a tequila cocktail.

For a Margarita variation, shake 1 ounce of tequila with three-quarters of an ounce of fresh lime juice and half an ounce of orange liqueur over ice, then strain into a glass with fresh ice. Taste before adding syrup. The sweetness of the orange liqueur and the sharpness of the lime determine how much, if any, extra sweetener you need. A partial salt rim lets you choose salted or unsalted sips.

For a longer drink, use grapefruit soda, ice and a squeeze of lime. Add the soda after the other ingredients and stir gently to preserve its bubbles. If you would rather explore the tequila itself, begin with a small pour at room temperature, then add a little water or an ice cube. Those are different ways to serve the same bottle, so choose the approach that suits your taste.
