BEHIND THE DRINK

The story & background

Virginia ABC describes the Atomic Cocktail as a 1950s drink with stories placing its origin in Las Vegas in 1953. Its reference preparation combines cognac, vodka and sherry, then adds Champagne.

Prepare the still ingredients first and add the carbonated component last. A gentle stir keeps the bubbles; vigorous shaking belongs only to the non-carbonated part of a recipe.
