BEHIND THE DRINK

The story & background

Irish Coffee combines hot coffee, Irish whiskey and sugar with a floating layer of chilled cream. The heatproof glass and carefully poured cream distinguish it from a cold coffee cocktail.

For the best texture, chill the glass and shake the cream with the liquid ingredients. Serve promptly; this is a freshly mixed drink rather than a batch to leave standing.
