BEHIND THE DRINK
The story & background
The linked IBA recipe uses cognac and notes rye whiskey as a later substitution. An absinthe rinse and Peychaud bitters give this drink a distinct aromatic identity; most of the absinthe rinse is discarded.
This spirit-led drink depends on accurate measures and controlled dilution. Stir with fresh ice until chilled; choose the base spirit first, then use the supporting ingredients in the written proportions.
